Description

Bowne has served as the lead municipal reviewer under the SEQR process, including a review of the various SEQR documents (Scoping Document, DEIS, FEIS and Findings Statement) for the following projects:

Mill Pond Acres
Port Washington North, NY

Bowne was hired by the Village of Port Washington North to serve in a review capacity and to represent the Village throughout the SEQR process for the proposed rezoning and development of a 41-acre vacant site for senior citizen housing within an industrial area. On behalf of the Village, Bowne reviewed the Draft and Final Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) and advised the Village Planning Board on compliance with SEQR. As a result of the findings during the SEQR process, the applicant reduced the proposed intensity of development from 327 to 250 residential units and increased the perimeter buffer five-fold. Bowne was also the consultant to the Village Planning Board during the preliminary and final subdivision/site plan review process.

Kings Point, NY

The applicant proposed a 69,000 square foot building to be used for religious and institutional purposes, including religious services, a day school and catered affairs. Bowne reviewed the DEIS on behalf of the Village of Kings Point. As a result of the SEQR process, the applicant reduced the scale of the project. The SEQR issues included:

Bowne prepared a DEIS under SEQR for the expansion of the Suffolk County Jail. The issues included existing infrastructure and surface water quality.
