Design/Build of Parking Garage

Description

Bowne’s architectural team worked closely with the construction managers, Carl Walker Construction, to rehabilitate a parking facility that is more cost-effective and better meets the needs of the Village. During the pre-design stage, Bowne held several on-site meetings to obtain necessary field data so they could prepare a comprehensive schedule for completion of architectural construction documents. The design phase of the project consisted of preparing design drawings that illustrate all elements of the design, preparing outline specifications, and reviewing the design with the construction representative and the Village.

Following approval of the design, the construction documents were prepared based on final architectural drawings and specifications. A file set of drawings was prepared by Bowne’s architects/engineers for the Building Department. The firm also assisted with obtaining approval from the Building Department.

During the construction phase, Bowne attended construction meetings as required to clarify design and construction issues. The firm also:

Performed periodic site inspections as appropriate to the stage of construction and notified the construction contractor.
Reviewed shop drawings and product information for compatibility with the construction documents.
Provided clarifications to contract documents as required and prepared final punchlist.
