March 2007 Bowne Management Systems Awarded NYC GIS Contract Bowne Management Systems, Inc. (BMS) announced that it has been awarded a 3-year contract for Citywide Geographic Information Technologies & Services by New York City’s Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DoITT). BMS is one of three vendors chosen to provide Geographic Information Systems (GIS) services – Infrastructure, Implementation, Data Services and Application Development – on an as-needed basis to City agencies that require assistance with GIS initiatives. BMS’s work will support DoITT’s mission to continue to expand its collaboration with other City agencies and to centralize GIS services and support for the City. DoITT will continue to host web applications and expand its GIS environments for use by City agencies as the need arises. The GIS contract allows City agencies to efficiently procure GIS consulting services via a competitive selection process among the three pre-approved vendors. The contract will make it possible for BMS to compete for assignments with a myriad of City agencies to help expand the power of GIS in the City. “Under this contract BMS can provide customized web and desktop based GIS applications, can assist City agencies with modifications to existing GIS infrastructure design and can assist City agencies with various services specific to spatial data,” said Richard Annitto, Executive Vice President of BMS. “We look forward to continuing to build strong relationships with the City agencies and enhancing the role of GIS throughout the City.” About Bowne Management Systems, Inc.
