GIS Job Point Program Tioga County (NY) Department of Social Services
Description
The Job Point Program provides two critical services for the Tioga County Department of Social
Services (TC DSS):
Job Point allows Temporary Assistance for Needy Family (TANF) clients the ability to identify
potential employers and search for jobs within Tioga and adjoining Counties.
After completion of a job search, the user can complete an exit survey, which would indicate any bus service deficiencies.
Periodically, TC DSS can spatially analyze geographic regions to determine which regions may require additional bus
routes and/or runs, and subsequently provide these bus route modifications to the Transportation Department (T-TRAN).
Job Point increases the number of job opportunities for TANF clients, thus decreasing the amount of time an individual is enrolled
in the TANF program. The project was funded with state money from the Community Solutions for Transportation Grant program .
