Spatial Street Smarts
Description  Bowne developed Spatial Street Smarts, an intranet-based system used to track street resurfacing operations
for the DOT’s Street Arterial Maintenance (SAM) unit. SAM previously had to coordinate their
activities with other DOT units via paper forms and phone calls, but Spatial Street Smarts
replaces this with electronic work flow and status tracking. This project provides DOT with
numerous improvements over their previous systems. These include elimination of duplicate
data entry, online display of maps and photos (instead of only textual descriptions of streets),
and improved data quality and integrity. In addition, different DOT units can share data
online, reducing paper forms and phone calls.
