Maintenance of Way Application and GIS
MTA - Long Island Rail Road
Description
Bowne developed the Mechanized Report and Wayside Lubricator applications for the
Maintenance of Way Division of the LIRR Engineering Department in response to a
request to seamlessly integrate data collection attributes with spatial data.
Management indicated that, using the existing applications, there were problems analyzing maintenance performed and required
on track branches and lines. As a result of this project, LIRR management uses GIS spatial data to review existing projects and can
effectively forecast where additional work must be performed.
