Bowne implemented an Enterprise-wide GIS for the Long Island Rail Road, the largest commuter rail road in the
United States. In addition to providing oversight and management throughout the entire
project, Bowne also used GPS positioned LIDAR imagery to
digitize the LIRR track assets within the entire LIRR ROW, designed and implemented
a
spatial data warehouse, developed an intranet-based GIS viewer,
developed data
collection applications using Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), and developed an
application that graphically displays rail flaws within a strip chart form.
