Description
Since 1990, Bowne has
been Nassau County’s consultant for the design and implementation of a
County-wide Geographic Information System. Tasks have included project
management and oversight, user needs assessment, accelerated basemap development,
development of specifications for aerial photography, photogrammetric
compilation and phase I implementation, wide area network specifications
and implementation, implementation oversight and acceptance testing, and
county-wide tax mapping. After the system went into production
in 1995, Bowne’s role transitioned to database maintenance, user support,
user mentoring (knowledge transfer) and training, application development,
and expansion of the user base both within and external to the County.
Since 2001, Bowne has been overseeing the migration
of the County’s GIS to the new suite of ESRI’s technologies including
ArcSDE, ArcGIS and ArcIMS.
